I’ve meant to catch up with my blog for awhile. However, I am here today to tell you all about how my year has been going.
My family and I had a hard first few months. My father went into a coma, and he almost went to hospice. Luckily enough, he made it through and is home recovering. When my father made it home, I decided that it was time to find another job.
During my time at Fractl, I met a lot of talented people. However, I was not passionate about the position. My heart has always been in digital marketing – SEO, paid search and affiliate. Some of the exciting things that I experienced there was seeing how eBay operated from a social media and content marketing perspective.
I was able to see the backend of their Facebook, and make suggestions for their status updates. I created numerous articles on their guide’s section that went crazy viral. It was a good experience to see how people reacted to my writing.
In April, I started my job hunt for something more along the lines of my personality. Fortunately, I landed a position at a company called Cendyn/ONE. This company developed a CRM platform for hotels all over the world. When this proved to be successful, they created an advertising agency to build off their technologies.
That’s where I am today. I accepted a position on their advertising team as an SEM Analyst. My role is to manage paid search and SEO for many large hotels throughout the U.S. I’m closing in on six months at the company. I couldn’t begin to tell you how much that I’ve learned.
The accounts that I manage have been doing incredible. The powers above have noticed the time and hard work that I’ve put into my “masterpiece.”. They often tell me what a great job that I am doing. It feels good to be somewhere that appreciates your work, and tells you regularly, “Good Job!”
Do you know what feels better than that? Being passionate about your work.
It’s been awhile, and I almost forgot this feeling. When I first started working at Foreclosure.com, I was so excited and learned so much. If it weren’t for my boss there, all these blogs I created would have never existed. I probably would have never learned HTML, CSS or web development.
Everything I learned there has helped me so much today. I am forever grateful for that.
Besides the position, I work with an incredible team. We have a large team that helps, laughs and just enjoys each other’s time.
The year started off roughly, but it’s been getting better and better. I am happy. The moral of the story is do what makes you happy. You only get one chance.

Hi Jackie, I don’t know if you remember me but I’m a friend of Melody. I have recently entered the world of digital marketing also. It is very new to me as I’ve only been in it for a few months, but I love it. Maybe we can chat sometime and see if we can collaborate, and/or give each other referrals. My number is (XXX) XXX-XXXX. Congratulations on your happiness, and I hope to hear from you.
Hi Lisa. Thank you for reaching out. I love connecting with other digital marketers. What do you do in marketing?
Congrats Jacquelyn! I always knew you would end up in a great place. You have a great spirit and your passion always shines through. Keep growing and following your heart.
