In the past, I wrote a post about “This is Why I Love the Internet.” In that article, I talked about how one can connect with others who are inspirational. However, there is another point that I would like to bring up today. On the Internet, we can be anyone we want to be.
I built vegbodybuilding.com to be a resource for others with a similar passion. On the site, I can project to visitors that I am an educated person in the industry. This appears to be because I can write and tell a story well. In reality, I am marketer not a fitness or nutrition consultant.
I noticed that the majority of professionals in the fitness industry just reiterate Layne Norton’s video blogs. Layne Norton has a PhD in Nutritional Sciences. He is the professional. It is great that these trainers are using Norton as a resource for their continuing education, which is passed on to their clients.
My point being, the beauty of the Internet is that we can be whoever we want to be. We can share our passion, education and opinions with the world. Of course, there will be judgments, Internet trolls and others with comments. However, we do the have freedom of speech.
I explained this to my intern about the Internet is our playground. I encouraged him to buy a domain and create a website. From there, he can build a blog and write about his passions. It does not matter whether it is video games, soccer or knitting. Tell a story to readers, and you become anyone in the world that you want to be.
P.S. This also means think twice before trusting anything on the Internet. lol.
